The following story is an excerpt from Lt. Col. Oliver North's new release,
American Heroes: In the Fight Against Radical Islam.

"The explosion of a carefully planted IED mangled Sgt Edwards below his body armor. The first person to him was U.S. Navy medical Corpsman Christopher Anderson. The man they called "Doc" Anderson immediately applied tourniquets to Edwards' shattered limbs and started an IV to ward off shock.

As they raced for the LZZ to meet an inbound casualty-evacuation helicopter, Edwards looked up at the man who was checking his pulse and said, 'take care of my babies, Doc.'

Anderson shouted back, 'You're going to take care of your babies. You're going to be OK!'

Marine Sgt Gregory Edwards was on his third deployment to Iraq when new wounds sent him back to Walter Reed. In 2003 he had been part of the initial assault on Baghdad and saw the statue of Saddam Hussein toppled. He'd been wounded on his second deployment and spent time recovering at Bethesda and Walter Reed. When 1st Bn, 6th Marines, was slated for a third deployment, he insisted on going along.

This time, however Gregory Edwards' road to recovery would never end. Though the doctors operated on him more than thirty times, they couldn't save his shattered legs. When all the surgery was done, he had one stump above the knee, a stump below the other knee, and only one functioning hand.

'I lost my legs for the people of Iraq, so their children will be able to run around, just like mine. If time was turned back, I'd do it all over again," said Sgt Edwards, father of two."

This excerpt, taken from American Heroes, is dedicated to the hundreds of thousands of fathers who are standing on the front lines of war while their families anxiously await their return home.

The more I read online the more I pray, I understand that despite what we may believe the issues we're experiencing in this nation are really not between Left and Right political parties so much as is between Darkness and Light. (I am conservative and wold not doom my liberal leaning-Obama loving 5 year nephew to eternal socialist hell--or anyone else for that matter).

I've been thinking of a way to introduce liberals to the true conservatives to help dispel the stereotypes.(funny how they stereotype "us" as so different from "them" where "us" are stuffy white men and "them" are fun enlightened and ethnically diverse....said the african-american conservative woman to the presumably caucasian liberal empathizer)

God is showing me a different perspective on these issues as being between he calls

----usury and unjust gain vs justly governing national affairs---

From the federal banks to the federal welfare recipients we all need to repent and judge not, capitalism in the hands of the greedy businesses included will not stand in this day.

No matter the effects...the cause rests solely upon the Christians charged with being salt and light to preserve God's will and scatter darkness from this earth.

A Very Important Lesson for Creative Conservatives

Today I am so happy that I have my own little space in the blogosphere! I never thought I would say that but lately my online activity has been buzzing and frankly noisey! I am slowly getting into twitter ...slowly... and noticed a tweet about the negative effects of rehashing bad news, events, experiences, etc.

The tweet suggested that we resist the temptation to spend large amounts of time talking about negative things that happen to us, even to our closest friends, because typically the retelling is more like re-living, and really, who needs that?

You know how you feel when you find out that someone in your office has assigned you to do yet another task, or, while you were busy with one project, they come along, take credit or change another of your projects? Here is my remedy:

I heard a sermon recently (the tweet reminded me of all of this, and this is my point) that encouraged me to refrain from competitiveness and to choose creativity instead. The sermon suggested that when we are competitive in our work and business, for example, we spend too much energy focusing on what the "competition" is doing, rather than realizing there is enough room for all the creativity God placed in each of us.

think about it, and run your own race and you will win!

A great speech overall, but I have a few issues with it, and with the speaker.

First of all, you will notice in the second paragraph that he mentions the "inarguable truth" in the preamble to the U.S. Constitution that we are endowed by our creator with the inalienable rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

Before I continue, let me mention that he was awarded the "Defender of the Constitution" award.

The preamble to the Constitution, you know, the "We the People" document, doesn't say anything about life, liberty, or the pursuit of happiness; that's a quote from the Declaration of Independence.

ASK not what Sarah Palin can do for your country, ask only what you can do for Sarah Palin. And the an swer is, pay attention. Trust me, Alaska's governor is moving faster than those glaciers.

Traveling with one of her ladies-in-waiting and invited by a rich GOPnik, she'll be at Saturday's invite-only/political mandarins-only Alfalfa Club dinner in DC. This club began back aways to honor Gen. Robert E. Lee whom, you may recall, did a little something in the Civil War. Why it exists, I don't know. What it does, I don't know. I only know it's too exclusive to include someone like me and is so high-powered that sitting US presidents attend, which means Obama should show. Anyway, Sarah will be there, and that's meaningful because this lady may only leave the frozen tundra two days a month.

She's also launching her national political action committee. Registered in Virginia, patterned after Hillary's HillPac, Sarahpac.com is to support ideas and candidates who share the Palin vision that energy independence is this country's future.

Next month she addresses a Washington gathering of prominent conservatives. She's going ahead with a book. Her Facebook page has 410,000 friends. She wants to influence policy knowing the nation must turn to Alaska as its energy resource. She's planning to be president.

The temperature in Sarah's state was recently 78 below. Question is what will she wear to this Alfalfa dinner - Manolo mukluks?

Caroline Kennedy says: Nevermind!

ALBANY, N.Y. – Caroline Kennedy withdrew her Senate bid because of a personal matter unrelated to her ill uncle, rejecting the governor's attempt to get her to reconsider, a person who worked closely with her said Thursday. Kennedy discussed withdrawing from the race with Gov. David Paterson on Wednesday, and Paterson asked her to reconsider for 24 hours, the person said.
But by 11 p.m. Wednesday, the associate said, Kennedy decided she couldn't take the job if appointed, and she issued a statement shortly after midnight saying she was withdrawing.
Kennedy did not decide to bow out because her uncle, Sen. Edward M. Kennedy, suffered a seizure during an inaugural luncheon Tuesday, the person said. The 76-year-old Massachusetts senator was diagnosed in May with an aggressive type of brain tumor.
The person wasn't authorized to disclose the conversation between Kennedy and the governor and spoke on condition of anonymity. The person would give no other details about the personal matter.
Kennedy's one-sentence statement ended hours of uncertainty as she appeared to waver.
"I informed Governor Paterson today that for personal reasons I am withdrawing my name from consideration for the United States Senate."
There was no comment from Paterson.
Kennedy, the 51-year-old daughter of President John Kennedy, emerged as a front-runner to replace Clinton. But there were questions about her experience and her reluctance to answer questions about her finances.
The seat was once held by Caroline Kennedy's slain uncle, Bobby Kennedy, and her initial announcement that she wanted to be considered was met with both excitement from supporters and skepticism from those who maintained that she was simply trading on her famous name to get into public office.
With no official explanations from the governor or from Kennedy, political observers were still wondering whether she bowed out on her own, or whether the governor had decided to pick someone else.
Doug Muzzio, a political science professor at Baruch College, called Kennedy's withdrawal "bizarre and ultimately embarrassing" to her and Paterson.
State Sen. Malcolm Smith, the Democratic majority leader in Albany, said Thursday that Paterson told him he still plans to announce a Senate appointment by Saturday.
Kennedy's decision boosted the chances of several other candidates, including Attorney General Andrew Cuomo, who surpassed Kennedy in statewide polls last week. Cuomo had no comment Thursday.
Paterson has said Cuomo had outstanding credentials for the job. Cuomo was the housing secretary under President Bill Clinton. Cuomo was elected attorney general in 2006 and has since led national reforms in the student loan industry and had a role in reining in corporate spending on Wall Street.
Cuomo is also the most popular elected politician in New York in polls — higher than Paterson, whose approval rating, while still high, has been slipping.
Paterson has asked potential candidates to respond to a 28-page questionnaires. The forms ask about personal finances and other background issues, many of which Kennedy has long shielded from the public.
Kennedy, an author, lawyer and fundraiser for New York City schools, has long guarded her privacy, and the questionnaires were expected to include some closely guarded Kennedy financial data. Paterson had said he thought the candidates' responses would be confidential because it was his personal request that they fill them out.
But the state's open-government expert and good-government groups told the AP that once the forms were written and submitted to the governor at least some of the responses would be subject to public review under the state Freedom of Information Law.
Kennedy jumped to the top of statewide polls in early December, but her public support waned following a brief upstate tour and a few press interviews.
She was criticized as reluctant to answer questions, and her knowledge of New York and its issues were suspect. She was also mocked nationwide for her frequent use of "you know" and "um" in interviews and was branded a lackluster campaigner.
The Kennedy reports came hours after Rep. Carolyn Maloney, some Democrats' top choice, was named chair of the Joint Economic Committee in Congress. That's a significant move because Paterson had made it clear the next senator's top job should be to help land a federal stimulus package to help New York out of its historic fiscal crisis.

(CNSNews.com) – President Bush on Monday defended his economic record, noting that he’s taken “extraordinary measures” to deal with the frozen credit markets.

He said the main question for the president is not when the problem started, but what action was taken once the problem was recognized:

“And I readily concede that I chucked aside some of my free market principles when I was told by chief economic advisers that the situation we were facing could be worse than the Great Depression,” Bush said at a White House news conference.

Bush said thanks to the multi-billion-dollar financial industry bailout, credit spreads are beginning to shrink, and lending is beginning to pick up. “The actions we have taken, I believe, have helped thaw the credit markets, which is the first step toward recovery.”

Bush said he inherited a recession when he first took office, and he’s ending on a recession. “In the meantime, there were 52 months of uninterrupted job growth.”

Bush noted that he’s been a staunch defender of tax cuts, and he will continue to defend them “as the right course of action.”

Immigration reform

If he had it to do over again, President Bush says he probably would have pushed for immigration reform rather than Social Security reform at the beginning of his second term.

“Legislative branches tend to be risk-averse,” he noted. “Sometimes legislatures have the tendency to ask, ‘Why should I take on a hard task when the crisis is not imminent?’ And the crisis was not imminent for Social Security as far as members of Congress were concerned.”

Bush said he does agree with the conventional wisdom that Social Security is the “third rail” of American politics. He said in the future, refusal to talk about fixing Social Security will be detrimental to a politician’s career.

Asked about mistakes and regrets at a Monday morning press conference at the White House, President Bush also mentioned the following items:

-- Bush said he wonders if he could have done something different about Hurricane Katrina.

-- "Clearly, putting 'Mission Accomplished' on an aircraft carrier was a mistake," Bush said. The banner went up shortly after Saddam Hussein was forcibly removed from office.

-- "Some of my rhetoric" has been a mistake, Bush said. He was widely criticized for daring terrorists to "Bring it on!"

-- The abuses at Iraq’s Abu Graib prison were a “disappointment,” Bush said, and so was failing to turn up weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. “I don’t know if you want to call those mistakes or not, but things didn’t go according to plan, let’s put it that way,” he said.

Bush said historians will be better able to judge his mistakes when time has passed.

Interrogations

President Bush said he “strongly disagrees” with the notion that America’s moral standing has been damaged by the way it interrogated enemy combatants at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.

America’s moral standing “may be damaged among some of the elite, but people still understand America stands for freedom – that America is a country that provides such great hope.”

He noted that some countries criticized America for incarcerating enemy combatants at Guantanamo Bay, “but when it came time for those countries that were criticizing America to take some of those detainees, they weren’t willing to help out.”

Bush says he never worried about being popular, but always did what he thought was best for the country.

Gaza conflict

President Bush said he still hopes for a “sustainable ceasefire” in the Middle East that includes a cessation of Hamas rocket fire into Israel. “I happen to believe the choice is Hamas’s to make,” he said.

Bush said the best way to ensure a sustainable ceasefire is to get Egypt to help stop the weapons smuggling into Gaza. He also said the international community needs to pressure countries (such as Iran) to stop supplying weapons to Hamas.

Bush said Israel “has a right to defend herself,” although he hopes Israel will “continue to be mindful of innocent folks” and work to “expedite the delivery of humanitarian aid.”

National Security

President Bush said the biggest threat facing the Obama administration is another attack on the homeland. “There is still an enemy out there that would like to inflict damage on America – Americans,” he warned, and this will continue to be the case.

Bush said North Korea is still a major problem, and he said Iran is “still dangerous.”

As for Iraq, in the long run, he said, the question is will democracy survive there? He said that’s going to be the challenge for future presidents.

First of all, WHO is this guy, I really don't watch TV and after the election, I am leery of FoxNews (ahem Colmes ahem), so imagine my surprise when I saw this O'Reily guy, I STILL don't know whether he supports Sarah, I know he hates Ann Coulter so he too must be starved for ratings for pulling this stunt! Fast Forward a bit..

Tell me, in case I missed something, has Governor Palin's "camp" made any announcements? I thought she was referring to 2010, nice also of him to remind us that the POTUS has yet to take office, and then proceed to imply that GOVERNOR Palin is wasting her wonderful life away to 2012...somehow I think she is leaving that to the (we) blogging experts!!

My suggestion is to take it one day at a time, fight the good fight because only what you do for Christ is going to last anyway .. some of us better get ta gettin'

MORE ON CNN-GATE: (and, yes, I am having some light hearted fun calling it CNN-GATE…this IS Washington, DC!)

I just talked to a source who told me that CNN, from its Political Director, through a Wolf Blitzer producer Jill Chappell emailed a PRIVATE apology to the Governor of Alaska for putting her (unfairly trashing her) on the list with Senator John (”my wife is in cancer remission so I figured it was ok to cheat on her”), Governor Elliott (” has anyone seen my other black sock? the dryer again?”) and others….and then blasting the unfair trashing around the world ! The producer emailed that she did not know about the trashing and neither did Wolf nor the Political Director.

so now two questions:

1. why didn’t CNN PUBLICLY apologize for this one? they sure unfairly trashed her publicly on that list….should not exposure of the apology equal the round the world exposure of the unfair trashing? That is what is done in court - you do what is necessary to make the person whole in the damage done to the person…and then it is over.

2. a producer? why did she get stuck doing the dirty work on this one? why didn’t someone higher up the corporate food chain send the message of apology if CNN really means it? the job stature of the person making the apology can mean much. This IS the Governor of the largest state…a former candidate for VP….and the trashing went world wide and was really lousy….

(and yes, mistakes can be made….but how you respond to your mistakes says much about the person or the news organization.)

Governor Sarah Palin Welcomes Her First Grandchild

December 31, 2008, Anchorage, Alaska – Governor Sarah Palin has welcomed her first grandchild, Tripp Easton Mitchell Johnston, born to Bristol Palin and Levi Johnston on December 27.

“We are over the moon with the arrival of this healthy, beautiful baby,” Governor Palin said. “The road ahead for this young couple will not be easy, but nothing worthwhile is ever easy. Bristol and Levi are committed to accomplish what millions of other young parents have accomplished, to provide a loving and secure environment for their child. They are both hard workers, they’re very strong, and have faith they’ve made the right decision in setting aside their own interests to make this child their highest priority.”

Palin added, “When Bristol and Levi first told us the shocking news that she was pregnant, to be honest, we all at first looked at the situation with some fear and a bit of despair. Isn’t it just like God to turn those circumstances into such an amazing, joyful blessing when you ask Him to help you through?”

Bristol Palin said she “obviously discourages” teen pregnancy and knows that plans she previously made for herself will now forever be changed. “Teenagers need to prevent pregnancy to begin with – this isn’t ideal. But I’m fortunate to have a supportive family which is dealing with this together. Tripp is so perfectly precious; we love him with all our hearts. I can’t imagine life without him now.”

Bristol begins her final semester of high school next week where she’ll get her last credit needed to graduate. She looks forward to continuing her record of good grades and high achievement. Levi is continuing his online high school work in addition to working as an electrical apprentice on the North Slope.

Bill McAllister, the governor’s office communications director, adds: "The governor's office previously declined to comment to honor the family's wishes that the event remain as private as possible. However, the high volume of press inquiries, along with some erroneous information that was published, prompted the governor to make a statement.

ALBANY, N.Y. – Sen. Bill Clinton? Sen. Mario Cuomo? Don't completely rule it out. The former president and the former New York governor are among several boldface names being touted as possible "caretakers" for New York's Senate seat — people who would serve until the 2010 elections but wouldn't be interested in running to keep the job. As the process of picking Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton's replacement gets messier, the option may become increasingly attractive to Gov. David Paterson, who has sole authority to name a successor.
A spokesman for Bill Clinton, Matt McKenna, said Wednesday that the former chief executive isn't interested in the job and plans to continue the work of his foundation. Cuomo declined through a spokesman to discuss the Senate seat.
A big name could have an immediate impact for New York in the Senate while letting the large field of hopefuls duke it out in 2010, according to three Democratic Party advisers in New York and Washington who are close to the discussion with Paterson's inner circle on this issue. Two others in the party confirmed that Paterson is still considering the caretaker option. The advisers spoke on the condition of anonymity because they weren't authorized to comment. "You could find a very senior person who could serve New York well" on an interim basis, said Gerald Benjamin, a political scientist and dean at the State University of New York at New Paltz. "Then you can say to Caroline Kennedy, `You know, you'd make a good senator. Run for it.' And you can tell everyone else that it's a level playing field."
Paterson has made it clear in recent days that he's getting annoyed by the constant jockeying by supporters of high-powered hopefuls including Kennedy, half a dozen members of Congress and state Attorney General Andrew Cuomo, son of the former governor. The candidates — especially Kennedy — have made daily headlines as Paterson tries to focus on a fiscal crisis of historic proportions, his first budget proposal and preparations for his first full legislative session as governor. He took office last spring after disgraced Gov. Eliot Spitzer resigned.
The caretaker option was exercised last month by Delaware Gov. Ruth Ann Minner, who picked a former aide to Vice President-elect Joe Biden to succeed him in the Senate until a new senator is elected in 2010. By then, Biden's son, state Attorney General Beau Biden, will have returned from a tour in Iraq with the National Guard — just in time to run for his father's seat.
A week ago, Paterson said he favored appointing a senator soon after Clinton is confirmed to start building seniority, and he ruled out an interim placeholder. Under state law, there will be an election to fill the last two years of Hillary Clinton's term in 2010 and another for a full six-year term in 2012.
The process, however, wasn't supposed to be a big distraction.
Some of the other names circulating as possible caretakers among party operatives include the state's retired top jurist, Judith Kaye, and former Nebraska Sen. Bob Kerrey, now president of the New School in New York City. Kaye declined through a spokesman Tuesday to discuss the Senate seat; Kerrey and Paterson did not respond to questions Tuesday and Wednesday.
Lee Miringoff, director of the Marist College poll, said the caretaker option wouldn't surprise him. "To pick a caretaker is to say ... win it in the court of public opinion." An interim appointment also could sidestep an internal struggle in New York's Democratic Party. Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver — the longest-serving and most powerful legislative leader in the state — has reservations about Kennedy, and Paterson needs Silver if he wants to battle powerful labor interests to turn around the state's fiscal problems.
But Kennedy's supporters include New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg, a Democrat-turned-Republican-turned-independent who is another important ally for Paterson. Meanwhile, the handicapping continues about the prospects of some of the lesser-known contenders. Rep. Carolyn Maloney of New York City, who is known as a tenacious legislator, has been endorsed by three women's advocacy groups: the National Organization for Women, the Feminist Majority and the National Women's Political Caucus. Political observers say Paterson is under pressure to pick a woman because all the state's top leaders — except Clinton — are men.
In the political blog Connecting.the.dots, media critic and editor Robert Stein wrote Sunday that a caretaker would show that Paterson has the best interests of the state in mind during the fiscal crisis, while letting powerful political families fight it out in an election two years down the road. Doug Muzzio, professor of politics at Baruch College, isn't convinced.
"If in fact you are looking to appoint a senator who can be an effective advocate for the people of the state, those two years you can learn a lot and to give that up is problematic." But Muzzio also sees some benefit to Paterson in picking a caretaker.
"If he is feeling trapped about this Caroline Kennedy thing, this gives him, in a sense, a way out ... without naming someone else that would really anger the pro-Kennedy people," he said.

Here are some interesting points regarding backlash...
Getting back to Caroline Kennedy, the advisor of one of Kennedy's main rivals for the post recently commented, "It's a tough thing, you can't run against the little girl at the funeral. If she wants it, I don't see how anyone will stop her." So, since Caroline Kennedy is President John Kennedy's daughter, the U.S. Senate seat from New York is hers for the taking. For the past years, Ms. Kennedy has written children's books and worked for charitable causes, while raising her family. All well and good. But does it mean she should coast into a U.S. Senate seat? Kennedy's qualifications - none. Media scrutiny - none. Political family connections - priceless.

The final decision is up to the Governor of New York, David Paterson. However, the scandal surrounding Obama's Senate seat and Governor Blagojevich' attempts to sell it may actually help Kennedy. If Governor Paterson picks Kennedy to fill Clinton's vacancy, he will spare himself any allegations that he's been bought off. Insiders are saying the Kennedy pick can help both Paterson (who's got issues of his own with state budget problems and a shaky political future at this point) and Barack Obama. Kennedy campaigned for Obama, and everyone knows who she is. She would have easy access to the President-Elect.

So all is well and good. People love the Kennedy's. And there would be the added "Camelot" connection that Obama has so aspired to. Only thing is, in addition to Obama, the American people once again may be getting another politician in office who knows nothing about the job. And what about the hypocrisy? Imagine if this were a Republican Senate Seat up for grabs and one of George Bush's daughters wanted it. There is little doubt that the mainstream media would blow a gasket. They'd be outraged. We'd hear all about the arrogance! the lack of experience! How could a Bush daughter expect to be handed a seat in the U.S. Senate?!? How in the world is she qualified to be a U.S. Senator!?! Yet, isn't that what is going on here?

And the mainstream media will let this fact slide because Caroline Kennedy is a Democrat!....or a Kennedy!.....or a Democrat AND a Kennedy!!!

This holiday season is a time to examine who’s been naughty and who’s been nice, but I’m unhappy with my findings. The problem is this: We liberals are personally stingy.

Liberals show tremendous compassion in pushing for generous government spending to help the neediest people at home and abroad. Yet when it comes to individual contributions to charitable causes, liberals are cheapskates.

Arthur Brooks, the author of a book on donors to charity, “Who Really Cares,” cites data that households headed by conservatives give 30 percent more to charity than households headed by liberals. A study by Google found an even greater disproportion: average annual contributions reported by conservatives were almost double those of liberals.

Other research has reached similar conclusions. The “generosity index” from the Catalogue for Philanthropy typically finds that red states are the most likely to give to nonprofits, while Northeastern states are least likely to do so.

The upshot is that Democrats, who speak passionately about the hungry and homeless, personally fork over less money to charity than Republicans — the ones who try to cut health insurance for children.

“When I started doing research on charity,” Mr. Brooks wrote, “I expected to find that political liberals — who, I believed, genuinely cared more about others than conservatives did — would turn out to be the most privately charitable people. So when my early findings led me to the opposite conclusion, I assumed I had made some sort of technical error. I re-ran analyses. I got new data. Nothing worked. In the end, I had no option but to change my views.”

Something similar is true internationally. European countries seem to show more compassion than America in providing safety nets for the poor, and they give far more humanitarian foreign aid per capita than the United States does. But as individuals, Europeans are far less charitable than Americans.

Americans give sums to charity equivalent to 1.67 percent of G.N.P., according to a terrific new book, “Philanthrocapitalism,” by Matthew Bishop and Michael Green. The British are second, with 0.73 percent, while the stingiest people on the list are the French, at 0.14 percent.

(Looking away from politics, there’s evidence that one of the most generous groups in America is gays. Researchers believe that is because they are less likely to have rapacious heirs pushing to keep wealth in the family.)

When liberals see the data on giving, they tend to protest that conservatives look good only because they shower dollars on churches — that a fair amount of that money isn’t helping the poor, but simply constructing lavish spires.

It’s true that religion is the essential reason conservatives give more, and religious liberals are as generous as religious conservatives. Among the stingiest of the stingy are secular conservatives.

According to Google’s figures, if donations to all religious organizations are excluded, liberals give slightly more to charity than conservatives do. But Mr. Brooks says that if measuring by the percentage of income given, conservatives are more generous than liberals even to secular causes.

In any case, if conservative donations often end up building extravagant churches, liberal donations frequently sustain art museums, symphonies, schools and universities that cater to the well-off. (It’s great to support the arts and education, but they’re not the same as charity for the needy. And some research suggests that donations to education actually increase inequality because they go mostly to elite institutions attended by the wealthy.)

Conservatives also appear to be more generous than liberals in nonfinancial ways. People in red states are considerably more likely to volunteer for good causes, and conservatives give blood more often. If liberals and moderates gave blood as often as conservatives, Mr. Brooks said, the American blood supply would increase by 45 percent.

So, you’ve guessed it! This column is a transparent attempt this holiday season to shame liberals into being more charitable. Since I often scold Republicans for being callous in their policies toward the needy, it seems only fair to reproach Democrats for being cheap in their private donations. What I want for Christmas is a healthy competition between left and right to see who actually does more for the neediest.

Of course, given the economic pinch these days, charity isn’t on the top of anyone’s agenda. Yet the financial ability to contribute to charity, and the willingness to do so, are strikingly unrelated. Amazingly, the working poor, who have the least resources, somehow manage to be more generous as a percentage of income than the middle class.

So, even in tough times, there are ways to help. Come on liberals, redeem yourselves, and put your wallets where your hearts are.

Hannah's Story: Worthwhile Reading

Hannah is 4 yrs old and was diagnosed in late October 2008 with a rare and aggressive cancerous brain tumor called glioblastoma multiforme. To date (November 20) she has had 2 surgeries to remove the tumors. She is in therapy to work on her walking, which has been effected by the tumor. She has frequent headaches from the pressure on the brain. She is on steroids to help with the inflammation, which is causing her to gain weight rapidly. The doctors have given Hannah 2-3 months to live without treatment and approximately 11 months with radiation. She needs a miracle! Hannah's father's name is Darin and she has two older siblings - Brittany and Jordan. She has 3 sets of grandparents, 2 sets of great-grandparents and a large extended family and supportive church family. Her mother, Chris, passed away several years ago from cancer. Please pray for the family as they deal with cancer in the family once again.

I would not normally put this story on the front of the site, but this is a true story. It is a friend of one of my friends. Please help SGP make this little girl's Christmas wish come true.

Many of you may remember my dear friend, Chris Garman, who lost her battle with breast cancer 2 years ago. When she was first diagnosed with breast cancer, she was pregnant with her third child. Her doctors didn't think
Chris would live through her pregnancy without treatment, so they took a chance & gave her chemo while shewas pregnant. Chris survived her pregnancy & had a beautiful, healthy little girl named Hannah Faith.
Chris died when Hannah was three.

Hannah is now five, and this breaks my heart all over again, but In October, Hannah has been diagnosed with glioblastoma multiforme, a rare and incurable brain tumor.

She was given about 12 weeks to live. She was going to be the flower girl in a wedding in May, but was diagnosed A week after she was asked.

Right now she has lost most of her motor skills. She is confined to bed
And cannot really do anything or play with the gifts she is getting from
people, but she LOVES getting cards - she has gotten so many from people she does not know and jus t loves to have grandma read about the people who send Them and see their pictures and is so proud of all her cards. Her room is just filled with cards.

When asked what she wants for Christmas she said she wants to see how
Many Christmas cards she can get. Many people have passed this wish along to their churches, prayer groups, friends and family. There are school groups where children are making her cards. People are including pictures so she can see who it i s that i s sending her the card.

Hating Palin: Words of Wisdom from Reagan

It has taken me a couple of weeks but I think I’ve finally gotten handle on why Sarah Palin’s bravado Republican convention speech was such a smash among conservatives: After nearly eight years of watching President George W. Bush curl up in the fetal position each time he was savaged by the angry left, it was positively invigorating to see a conservative Republican finally fight back—and with wit and charm. Palin was a throwback to Ronald Reagan, with that unique ability to deliver a memorable dig with a smile. She went on offense, entertainingly and engagingly so, and it was fun to watch.
At the same, Palin made herself prey for the secular left. They don’t like her. They despise her simply for what she represents. Her nice life of happy choices angers them. They are eager to destroy her. This gives the hard left pleasure, albeit only momentarily, as their restless hearts seek another void.

She will witness their hatred when she turns on the TV, picks up a newspaper, or walks by a magazine rack. What’s the solution to deal with their revulsion? Ignore it. It is what it is; always the same.

Turn off the TV: As George W. Bush told reporters in the early weeks of the invasion of Iraq: “I don’t have time to sit around watching TV.” Smart.

Don’t read the New York Times, which harbors the worst of prejudices: a concealed one. At least conservative talk-radio is open about its biases.

The one politician who had this ability more than any I’ve encountered was Ronald Reagan—a truly liberating quality for a conservative Republican. I could point to numerous examples, but here’s one of my favorites, shared by the late columnist Rowland Evans.

Evans was having lunch with Reagan in 1987, six years into his presidency, a milestone by which the previous five presidents had been defeated, resigned in disgrace, refused to consider reelection, or assassinated. Somehow, Reagan was shining through, making it look easy, and was enormously popular. Evans, a tough old newsman, was in awe. He looked Reagan in the eye and said, “You know, Mr. President, I’ve known you for more than twenty years. I first met you in 1966, and the amazing thing is that you don’t look any older now than you did back then. How do you do it?”

In response, Reagan offered a parable:

Let me explain it this way. Let me tell you the story of the two psychiatrists—the old psychiatrist and the young psychiatrist—who had a practice together. They’d come into their office every day just bubbling with enthusiasm, always happy, upbeat, smiling, and chipper. Then they’d go into their separate suites and have patients come in and lie on the couch all day and talk about the woes in their lives. At 6:00 p.m. they’d come out and the young psychiatrist would be devastated, wiped out by the day, with a stomachache, and just miserable. The old psychiatrist would be just as chipper and smiling and upbeat as he was when he went in that morning. This went on for a number of months.

Finally one day they came out at 6:00 p.m., the young psychiatrist devastated as usual, and the old psychiatrist just as happy and smiling as he was when went in. The young psychiatrist stopped him and said, “I don’t understand it. We do the same thing every day, and I leave wiped out by hearing patients all day, and you come out after patients have been streaming in and out of your office just as upbeat as ever. How do you do it?” The old psychiatrist paused a minute and said, “I never listen.”

Critics on the left would have uncharitably seized upon Reagan’s explanation as evidence of their demeaning assertion that he did not pay attention during White House meetings. Reagan, of course, did not intend the story that way, and would be unfazed by their insulting interpretation—which is precisely the point.

The parable contains a secret to Reagan’s content: When he was dubbed a warmonger and an idiot, blamed for everything from homelessness to AIDS, when it was asserted that he was engaging in an arms build-up not to draw the Soviets to the negotiating table but to launch nuclear war, when protestors staged “die-ins” dressed as mock coffins outside the White House, Reagan simply ignored them. When they screamed, he never listened.

Such accusations drove other men crazy. One president driven over the edge by the left’s rage was Richard Nixon. “Others may hate you,” said Nixon in his White House farewell, “but those who hate you don’t win unless you hate them, and then you destroy yourself.” Nixon let the hate of his enemies consume him, and then they won.

I sense that Sarah Palin understands these things.

Her virtues are destined to bring out the vices in her opponents. She loves, and they envy how she loves. She chooses life, and they assail her choice.

Her temperance and fortitude tempts their pride. Her faith, hope, and charity, inspires their disbelief, despair, and disdain. Her happiness fuels their anger.

Often, maintaining sanity and surviving means simply ignoring the haters. That’s where Ronald Reagan was before he stepped foot in the White House. And that’s a good place for a conservative Republican like Sarah Palin.

Finally! I am very pleased that Governor Palin is keeping the options open for her political career. It is important that she uses her influence to challenge Americans speak out and stand up for what we believe. It is awesome that she was able to weigh in on Obama's recent actions without our msm spin. Bravo to CTV for giving her nearly 10 minutes to share her perspective, particularly on 2012.
Even at the height of her political career, she shrugs off notions of 2012. Politics are "Not the be all end all" for me either Sarah, but thanks to you, I am motivated to use my influence to support my conservative values politically and publicly.

I am just so excited. As you all may know there was an atheist group that placed a sign next to a nativity display in our state's {Washington} capitol. Well today, I learned that a very outspoken Pastor has place a sign exalting and uplifting our LORD and Savior. He seems to take on most of the craziness on this end alone and I am so glad to see him stepping out. I had tried to rally people to do the same but I don't care how things get done as long as they get done. But I am sure that this Pastor would appreciate knowing the his works are greatly appreciated and would also be blessed by words of encouragement.

Deception + Manipulation – Political Expediency?

While my technical glitches were in high gear this past Sunday, I happened upon Hannity Hour. Rarely do I watch TV and when I do, news would not be among the shows I selected. Perhaps it was the panel (most likely it was the fact that my TV was not made with a remote-the channels actually are on a turn knob-while my 20 year old VCR changes the channels—it also does not use a remote) You understand why I let the channel remain.
To my surprise, the discussion was about whether BO’s broken promises were more about his political expediency or about his “sincere” attempts to govern from the center. The apples to oranges comparison aside, what difference does it make?? I was happy to hear someone besides we faithful bloggers bring up the Ayers debacle, to which all of the panel agreed was highly inappropriate, going so far as to unanimously agree that NONE of them would work with the unapologetic terrorist, two of the three panelist shrugged if off as political expediency explaining that it in Chicago, “you only have friends on the left” in order to survive “there is room to associate with everyone—it is just what you do” (of course I am paraphrasing, watch it for yourself to get the details).
Special shout out to Hannity for inviting Ayers on for the whole hour, in a way that suggests Hannity eats terrorist for snacks! But here is the issue: why the pass on the numerous deceptions, BO performed?
It is not okay, in my opinion, to spend approximately 10 public years, supporting terrorists, clergy, ACORN, special interests groups, former foes, planned parenthood, etc., only to throw them all under a Chicago style bus.
My opinion aside, a bigger elephant on Hannity’s set was his conservative ideals that perhaps could have checked him and his guests on this notion that Chicago style politics should so blatantly be okay and used to win National elections. It is beginning to make sense to me now, having been born and raised in the south, the appeal southerners have had in national elections, all of these guys on his panel appeared slimy…makes one wonder what BO had to exchange for the support of so many…and what will happen, when the “masses” get the down-winded extent of BO’s public character?

When is it OK to not be a "proud american"?

Recently I have read posts and blogs hinting at confusion over why some AMERICANS suddenly feel a sense of pride and happiness that their efforts this election paid off.
Here are a few photos, that may help explain in many of our lifetimes there were reasons to look down upon this great nation.
Here is a quote from a woman I recently had the pleasure of speaking to at length,

Now, how would we treat a man in 2008, who poured acid into a swimming pool because he did not want "half black, full black, african black" AMERICAN CHILDREN dirtying up his "whites only" pool?

We have not been unified in this country in more ways than political affiliation, it is difficult to argue for patriotism, during various periods of this nations immediate past, if your memory is longer than the glory days of Regan.

Today many groups in the name of Conservatism, have called for preserving our history and constitution, which did not consider blacks as equal to whites:

Constitution on Slavery "Clearly Sanctioned"

Black African slavery had existed in the North American English colonies for 168 years before the U.S. Constitution was drafted in 1787. It had existed all across colonial America, but by 1804 most Northern states, finding that slavery was not profitable for them, had effectively abolished the institution. In the South, however, especially after the 1793 invention of the cotton gin, the institution grew, becoming an inextricable part of the economy and way of life.

Whether slavery was to be permitted and continued under the new Constitution was a matter of conflict between the North and South, with several Southern states refusing to join the Union if slavery were disallowed. Thus, in spite of a warning from Virginian George Mason that slaves "bring the judgment of Heaven on a country," the continuance of slavery was clearly sanctioned in the U.S. Constitution, although the words slave and slavery are not found anywhere in the document. Section 2 of Article I states that apart from free persons "all other persons," meaning slaves, are each to be counted as three-fifths of a white person for the purpose of apportioning congressional representatives on the basis of population. Section 9 of Article I states that the importation of "such Persons as any of the States now existing shall think proper to admit," meaning slaves, would be permitted until 1808. And Section 2 of Article IV directs that persons "held to Service or Labour in one State, under the Laws thereof, escaping into another," meaning fugitive slaves, were to be returned to their owners.

The Bill of Rights, adopted in 1791, says nothing about slavery. But the Fifth Amendment guaranteed that no person could "be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law." Slaves were property, and slaveholders had an absolute right to take their property with them, even into free states or territories.

Fascinating Fact: The rhetoric in the Constitution and the Declaration of Independence about liberty, freedom, being created equal, and so on, was seldom considered applicable to blacks, slave or free. Seen a subservient race, they were excluded from consideration as members of society and had few rights.

Fear and complaining are for LOSERS!

IN the Year of Bottomless Bailouts, I am most grateful this Thanksgiving for Amer icans who refuse to abandon thrift, personal responsibility and self-reliance. When the moochers and entitlement-mongers drive you mad, remember that our nation still serves as home to millions of citizens who do for themselves.

Like our Founding Fathers, they are God-fearing people who will never put their faith in the Cult of You Owe Me.

They are people like my reader Jen, who runs a family farm called the Double Nickel in New Mexico. Tired of all the handwringing, Jen wrote me a letter this week about her own plight and triumph over adversity:

"I am writing to you to share my story of how one can survive hard times and land solidly on one's feet . . . So here goes: My husband had an auto accident on Jan. 1, 2005, and our lives and finances changed dramatically. Our income was cut in half, as he has permanent injuries and went from being a field officer to a desk job in a less fast-paced career."

Instead of staying in a home they couldn't afford and waiting for a mortgage rescue, Jen, her husband and their four children moved to New Mexico because of the much lower cost of living and college-tuition expenses. One of her sons is now a soldier - the third generation in her family to serve, including Jen's father, who was killed in Vietnam. The other kids are home-schooled students. Jen continues:

"We sold our lovely home, bought a rundown, fixer-up place and converted it into a farm that could provide garden vegetables to can and an area to have some animals to provide eggs, chickens, ducks, turkey, geese, sheep and goats. . . . Freecycle and Craigslist turned out to be wonderful assets, as most of our animals came for free or for barter - and the children and I mucked out stalls on a ranch for sheep."

Yes, they raise turkeys and other animals, and sell them for profit.

Instead of awaiting the next stimulus check from the borrow-spend-repeat-panic politicians in Washington, Jen explains how the family has cut costs:

"I learned how to make my own shampoo, toothpaste, soaps, cloth napkins, dish scrubbies, potholders, skirts (mend all clothes) and most meals from scratch. We heat our home exclusively with wood, and I am currently growing a winter garden. The spring garden will be in containers by the last week of December to prepare for spring planting. I do not see this as a downfall or a tragedy.

"For those worried about holiday spending: I spent only $100 for a family of six last Christmas, and most of that [on] underwear, socks and the meal."

And she adamantly rejects the victim card:

"This accident has been a blessing for my family. The pain that my husband has daily is not the blessing, but that he is alive and able to continue to watch his children grow into adulthood.

"It also has been wonderful to know that we live in a nation that affords us the opportunity to reinvent ourselves from suburbanites to a country-dwelling farm family. I am ashamed to see the American spirit that made our nation so great now turned into nothing."

Thanks to self-reliant Americans like Jen, that spirit lives. In times like these, they are our greatest blessing.

While visiting the TeamSarah site, I happened upon a comment that said something to the effect of "i am a christian first". I am interested in starting a group or a discussion to see how that statement is defined by the readers.

I believe it means we pray for our leadership, trust God to put His will in place, a will and plan that is for our benefit no matter what the trials/tests. and if that is what that means for others, I would be interested in engaging in a discussion re: our actions as christians and aspects that we need to include as we blog on current events.

As Christians, we should not be upset we should rejoice always, there are many many blessings to count as we approach Thanksgiving our busiest holiday season in this culture, I certainly would not give haters or satan any credit by sulking in gloomy doom over this election, there are always reasons to rejoice, and if those in literal bondage (as John McCain and others were and still are) could find reasons to hope and love this country...then BLESS GOD, so can WE!!!!

Need Encouragement?

Daily, I have been frantically surfing from website to website, looking for some motivation. I must admit, I am in full trust that God is not upset, surprised and has great plans for his children and this country. But in many instances over the past week, I have been searching for ways to address the feelings I and others are having regarding the many oddities that are not adding up from this campaign.

I would be irresponsible if I did not first address the infighting occurring by the RNC...way more disheartening than losing the election. This has to be the tackiest outcome of this election, and I have few if any words to share on the topic.

FORTUNATELY, I have found a GOODWORK that resonates not hate, anger, or remorse but true hope for strategically moving forward, sans rhetoric and avec appropriate research and viable solutions for next steps.

I plan to share some of the highlights (perhaps even the transcripts) because now is the time to understand the role of civil disobedience, as well as gain insight into our historic obligation to understand and defend our constitution and our country.

A time for forgiveness and peace

It is so wonderful to trust God and not man. God takes care of us and allows the sun to shine on everyone. This world is for His children to bless, cultivate and keep until HE comes, so how do we get through the days ahead?

Trusting, Believing and Declaring HIS word, Colossians 3:12-14 says,
12 Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. 13 Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. 14 And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity

Now when we do our part, we are prepared to enjoy things as HE does HIS part. Pray for our leadership and for those who are wounded to heal. May we his people all live in God's Peace until he returns.

Of course, like many here, I stared this blog mainly because of the inspiration of blogs such as Adam Brickley's http://palinforvp.blogspot.com/ site (I follow his site, just google him and you will find it.
I saw his site earlier this year and was SURE based upon his research that Gov. Palin, if selected would seal the deal for McCain (after he did not immediately select Huckabee--yes, I said I supported Huckabee in the primary), the rest is history and now on to accentuating those reasons I wanted to register my cybervoice in honor of those works that are just good!
Adam Brickley gets the first award of course for being a kid with courage! Even if he's been doing this since 5 years old, his political passion and conservative blog, has grown exponentially from my first encounter, check him out on CNN of all places!!

Mighty good work he has done on behalf of the Republican Party and supporters of McCain/Palin as a citizen concerned and committed to preserving integrity. Glad you found your laptop, are feeling better and pray for your increased prosperity to come quickly!

State of the Campaign from Rick Davis, John McCain Campaign Manager

The State of the Campaign

If your television is tuned to cable news as frequently as ours are here at campaign headquarters, you have seen the pundits say John McCain and his campaign are done. And, if you've followed this race since the beginning, this is clearly a song you've heard before. I wanted to take some time today to give you some insight on the state of the race as we see it.

An AP poll released this morning revealed a very telling fact: ONE out of every SEVEN voters is undecided. That means, if 130 million voters turn out on Tuesday, 18.5 million of them have yet to make up their mind. With that many votes on the table and the tremendous movement we've seen in this race, I believe we are in a very competitive campaign.

Here's why:

All the major polls have shown a tightening in the race and a significant narrowing of the numbers. In John McCain's typical pattern, he is closing strong and surprising the pundits. We believe this race is winnable, and if the trajectory continues, we will surpass the 270 Electoral votes needed on Election Night.
National Polls: Major polls last week showed John McCain trailing by double-digit margins - but by the middle of this week, we were within the margin of error on four national tracking surveys. In fact, the Gallup national tracking survey showed the race in a virtual tie 2 days this week.  
State Polls:   Iowa - Our numbers in Iowa have seen a tremendous surge in the past 10 days. We took Obama's lead from the double digits to a very close race. That is why you see Barack Obama visiting the state in the final days, trying to stem his losses. It is too little, too late. Like many other Midwestern states, Iowa is moving swiftly into McCain's column.   The Southwest - It is no secret that Republican candidates in the Southwest have to focus on winning over enough Latino and Hispanic voters in Nevada, New Mexico and Colorado to carry them to victory. John McCain has overcome challenges Republicans face, and has made up tremendous ground in these states with these voters. For these voters, the choice has become clear, and you have seen a big change in the numbers. John McCain is now winning enough voters to perform within the margin of error - putting these states within reach.   Colorado - Barack Obama tried to outspend our campaign in Colorado during the early weeks of October and finish off our candidate in Colorado. However, after our visit early this week, we saw a tremendous rebound in our poll position, and Colorado is back on the map.   Ohio and Pennsylvania - Everyone knows that vote rich Ohio and Pennsylvania will be key battlegrounds for this election. Between the two: 41 electoral votes and no candidate has gotten to the White House without Ohio. Senator McCain and Governor Palin have been campaigning non-stop in these key battleground states and tonight Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger has pumped up our campaign at a rally in Columbus. Our position in these states is strong and undecided voters continue to have a very favorable impression of our candidate.
Obama campaign faces tremendous structural challenges in the final days of this campaign
Obama has a challenge hitting 50%: Barack Obama has not reached the 50% threshold in almost any the battleground state. He consistently is performing in the 45-48% range. When we look closely at the primary votes, we see a history of a candidate whose Election Day performance is often at or behind his final polling numbers. If this is true, our surge will leave Obama with even or under 50% of the vote on Election Day.  
Early Vote: The Obama campaign has promised that their early vote and absentee efforts will change the composition of the electorate. They have sold the press on a story that first time voters will turn out in droves this election cycle. Again, the facts undermine their argument. In our analysis of early voting and absentee votes to date: The composition of the electorate has not changed significantly and most folks who have voted early are high propensity voters who would have voted regardless of the high interest in this campaign.  
Expanding the Field: Obama is running out of states if you follow out a traditional model. Today, he expanded his buy into North Dakota, Georgia and Arizona in an attempt to widen the playing field and find his 270 Electoral Votes. This is a very tall order and trying to expand into new states in the final hours shows he doesn't have the votes to win.
The Final Barnstorm
On Monday, we will have a 14 state rally with our candidates crisscrossing the country trying to turn out our voters and sway the final undecided voters. Governor Palin will hit Ohio, Missouri, Iowa, Colorado, Nevada and Alaska in the final day of campaigning, while Senator McCain will travel from Tampa, Florida, to Virginia, then Pennsylvania, Indiana, New Mexico, Nevada and finish the night in Prescott, Arizona. The enthusiasm and excitement we generate on Monday will be the electricity that powers our "Get Out the Vote" efforts on Tuesday.
On the Ground
Our field organization has tremendous energy and is out-performing the Bush campaign at the same time in 2004. This week our field organization crossed a huge threshold and began reaching more than one million voters per day, and by week's end will have contacted more than 5 million voters. Our phone centers are full and our rate of voter contact is significantly out-pacing the Bush campaign in 2004. We have the resources to do the voter contact necessary to support the surge we are seeing in our polling with old fashioned grassroots outreach.
On the Airwaves
In the final days of the campaign, our television presence will be bigger and broader than the Obama campaign's presence. The full Republican effort - the RNC's Independent Expenditure and the McCain campaign will out-buy Barack Obama and the Democrats by just about 10 million dollars.
In short: the McCain campaign is surging in the final 72 hours. Our grassroots campaign is vibrant and communicating to voters in a very powerful way. Our television presence is strong. And, we have a secret ingredient - A candidate who will never quit and who will never stop fighting for you and for your families.

In these final hours, Senator McCain and Governor Palin are counting on you - they are counting on you to knock on doors, to make turnout calls, to contact your friends and neighbors. Get our voters to the polls and help John McCain fight for your and for our country. This is our last mission on behalf of John McCain and I have no doubt I can count on your effort and energy to carry us across the line to victory.

WHEN does your vote count?

So, I have been working for a board of elections, I started as an elections inspector and because of the need for bi-partisan representation, I was promoted rather quickly (or asked) to work in the office.
I have learned a few things that may be interesting: poll votes are never called in, or reported to anyone..votes are counted and certified in December..so where does the media get those numbers??? well they COULD check with county web sites that show preliminary numbers that are not actual or verified until they are reported to the State Boards, or they COULD list them as "popular votes" and speculate who is winning.... so the media basically selects the president since the total votes are inconclusive for weeks after they are cast (also because absentee ballots, though post marked by Nov 3, may not come in for up to 3 weeks later due to high volumes of ballots that come internationally)
HERE IS MY POINT...NONE of these votes can determine who the electoral college voters actually certify and currently, they have to vote together (despite the fact that some states have literally not voted for the candidate that is certified by their EVoters)... I did learn that there are measures being reviewed that can allow EV's to be split so as to reflect the actual votes cast in their states.

Oh and one final thing, there are no states that are allowed to count votes until Nov 4 which, means that all of the "results" are fiction, this explains the importance of candidates getting the MSM in their pocket and also explains why a supreme court would have to rule on a conflict over who "wins" in a presidential election (essentially they were ruling against the MSM) This seems to also explain the strong reliance most Americans feel upon the MSM, and why it is critical that the MSM's handling of this election receive major attention, sooner than later. Because many on this blog, appear to have links to media sources, I invite your comments or suggestions.

THE GOOD NEWS: Knowledge IS a form of power and the task here is to govern ourselves accordingly, knowing the rules of the game, the context of the story, etc., empower those truly committed to good works!

I had a chat with a Board of Elections Commissioner about whether candidates MUST use all of the funds contributed to their campaign. I learned there are several options, particularly if/when a candidate shows a considerable lead or if there are economic uncertainties during the campaigning period:

1. A candidate may leave the funds in the account for use during a re-election (if they win a first term)
2. A candidate may give the funds back to the contributors (since they are not tax deductible)
3. A candidate may share the funds (or spread the wealth of the funds around) with other candidates in their party to show support and interest in supporting smaller elections or similar platforms.

The question of the day is: What would you do with more millions per day to spend on a campaign (or small town) that receives, less than subtle MSM endorsements DURING a time of economic uncertainty? Would you boast to have a working knowledge of the many progressive/socialist ways to equitably sniff out and squelch (or redistribute wastes?)

Good Works are easy to spot, we all know them when we see them, the problem is we are slowly being steered away from what in plain english is a good work thanks to the media bias and less than honest candidates who refuse to simply disclose past relationships or issues that may bite them in the end. (Good Work truth serum awards go to NY Gov. Paterson for admitting his affair before anyone else and to Senator John Edwards for telling the truth and of course Marion Jones get honorable mention for serving the time for the crimes FOR the sake of her children who are not helped by lies covered up).

Yes the truth costs more but it pays more but we have been lied to so much by politicians, and pundits and MSM reporters, that the party lines are smeared purple and party platforms are compromised (or sacrificed) in exchange for performance space. (million dollar per minute performance spaces) It is clear to see why the masses, spoon fed this garbage, have teeth too soft to chew on the tough but total picture: our political party systems are different sides of the same pair of power pants!

My take on what MSM can do is simple: own up to it, admit it, quit it and let readers (retrain themselves to) read issues, weigh more than ONE SIDE and form opinions for themselves. (oh and wear lipstick and a pocketless dress!)

Thank you so much for this post, it is refreshing and exactly the type of response we should have to nay sayers, bad news, mean spirited attacks, daily bumps in the road, etc. You win when you choose to focus on all that is good with this country and when you use what is good about forums such as these blogs, to share the many reasons that remind us to seek and strive for genuine happiness. Many of us see qualities in the Palin family that are encouraging because in some cases, they represent a needed twist on the lemons to lemonade philosophy. Despite (or in addition to) all of what I have read online regarding African American Conservative Women , I am so excited for the opportunity to identity with both historic moments in the political parties. For many, one or more of our (AACW's)values will be reflected in the leadership of our country for the next four years by a leader that shares a component of our heritage. While I specifically support McCain-Palin, I am elated that within one year and during one election, so many critical barriers are being challenged if not slowly dissolved including:

1. The articulate (or lack thereof) moniker

2. The misinterpretation that weaker vessel equals weaker US leadership ability

3. The notion that age automatically equals experience (and the reverse)

4. The wholesale representation of any race/gender by any group/leader

Each party has: a candidate just young enough to remember both the segregation and integration of US schools from the perspective of either a parent or a student (not to be underestimated), a great bootstrap story that motivates the country's youth to aspire to civic engagement again, and an appeal to broad bases for the aforementioned reasons-the inclusive messages from each party are refreshing among a generation that has had to strain our necks to hear or see any resemblance of ourselves in such open ways in national politics. (ok one less subjective observation is that Palin offers a much needed alternative to the 3 decades of superwoman idealism: a superb woman realism aka a REAL SUPERMODEL!)

Although the leaps and bounds are fascinating, it would be best for us (read: me) to get over these things quickly (before election day). Perhaps with these accomplishments safely out of the way, the country can unite around other value driven issues (the economy), and a deeper understanding of each party's platform, electoral voting, and track records of each party all of which are better reasons to speak out and up.

The name is pretty understandable, this space is mainly to share the good works working on the internet, and will stave off as much as possible, any MSM influence--one could argue that the internet is influenced by MSM. If adequately researched it appears that the internet reveals much needed balance in large enough "bytes" to exercise the brain.
